What the job involved
Project story.
This Wilmette interior mixed older plaster with updated rooms off the kitchen. The homeowners wanted a calmer palette and sharper trim without moving out for a week. We sequenced common areas first, then private rooms, and kept floors protected from the start.
Prep included filling plaster defects that would telegraph through a light color, deglossing trim, and priming repairs. Finish coats were cut carefully at casings and baseboards so the new color read as intentional, not rushed. Dust control and daily cleanup mattered as much as coverage because the house stayed occupied.
Interior work across Chicagoland often fails when painters skip repairs or treat every wall like new drywall. Naming the substrate in the scope kept expectations clear. Stair halls need extra care at handrails and spindles, and we treated those as finish work rather than afterthoughts.
